Bucharest, Romania

I’ m sitting metformin side effects hair loss in the spa of the Hilton Hotel here in Bucharest, Romania. Yesterday I wrapped my four day shoot for a recurring role in a new series I picked up. I can’t share much about the particulars of the show at this time, out of respect to the network and producers of the show. However, I can share with you my personal experiences spending a week here in Bucharest, the capital city of Romania. Before trekking across the world, I had never been east of the state of Missouri, meaning I have never seen half of the United States; my own country. Up until I was 18, I had never seen the ocean nor had I ever left the 4-state area (Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas). Then when I was 18, my friends from Edmond, Oklahoma were moving to Redondo Beach, CA. And I took the opportunity to drive one of the cars for them, and we traveled through Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California, finally getting to see the ocean for the very first time and getting the chance to double my state count. In college ball, we traveled up to Iowa for a game one time, and when I moved to Vegas/Nevada when I was 21, I went through Colorado and Utah since I had never been to those two states, bringing my state count up to 11.

So traveling to Romania was something quite out of the norm for me. Joining the business that I am in (making films for a living), one of the highlights I looked forward to was traveling to different locations, sometimes around the world, to film movies and the like. What I love about anyone who is reading this blog is you are getting to experience some of the most beginning unfolding steps in my career, and getting the opportunity to hear my reflections on my experience. I have always stressed that there is much more to Hollywood than the glits and glam, just like there is so much more to life than what most people see. I always try to transcend the ordinary and the boring for the adventure and viewing the world with youthful innocence. Being a kid at heart only allows my heart to beat with more excitement upon daily things, inspiration in every moment, and the innocent eyes that lead to being in your own world where the opinions of others matter very little.

I have slacked a little on my blogs, but always want people to remember that although my blog is career-related (I talk extensively about it), I stress a lot upon my feelings, intentions, motives, and reflections almost from a higher-perspective, going beyond what Hollywood is typically known for (or life as we know it) speaking about it all from an almost spiritual perspective. Have deep spiritual roots (the roots I talk about is being conceived from the same energy that orchestrates everything in our lives), this is how I have always lived my life. Many times, and even today, I forget who I am, lose all sight of possibility, and shut down into a separate being who feels he is alone in this world. It actually is quite a good thing, because once you latch back onto who you really are, it is easier to go back to this place, this higher perspective, all the time, because you have witnessed both.

Bucharest is interesting. Some of the first things I noticed was all the cares are pretty much smaller. And the drivers drive worse than people in L.A. yet even though they do, it feels they drive safer. I’m very impressed with their driving. Why they drive worse is pretty much because they drive onto sidewalks, down tram tracks, and everywhere in between. So it would make sense that they park on sidewalk, or literally, anywhere that they can squeeze there car in. The first time I noticed cars being parked on the sidewalk made me laugh. It also surprised me when I was pulled over one time late at night, and the taxi driver got out of his car and walked up to the police car window and initiated a conversation. A lady that was with me, I asked her if it was normal behavior. She said yes, that Romania is safe. Guns are illegal to civilians. The driver got back and didn’t get a ticket. I said he was a smooth talker. And he said, “No, money talks.” I couldn’t believe he paid ‘em off! So I had to ask how much and he said 20 LEI. Well, I think $25 is about 70-80 LEI or something along those lines… So basically he gave them such a small amount… That was different.

One night as I was going to the grocery store at 2am (as I’m staying in the center of Bucharest at the Hilton Hotel) for food because I was starving and we had just gotten back from set, these two girls approach me talking Romanian. I’m sometimes not the smartest ‘street’ guy as I’ll blame it on the Kansas roots, and so instead of ignoring them I said, “I don’t understand you.” Then they asked if I spoke English to which I told them yes. By this time the two girls had put their hands on my back and on each of my arms and were walking with me, as I had my hands in my pocket. They asked if I had a smoke and I told them I don’t smoke and then they asked, “Do you want sex?” to which I said no. Then one of them goes ahead and grabs the good ol cocker spaniel and says, “Why not.”

Now, at this point, and it sounds funny, but I didn’t feel real threatened. Yes, they were touching me wrongfully, but it wasn’t something I couldn’t handle. But I didn’t want to put my hands on them. I just felt being a foreigner and being as big as I am (physically) and shoving girls off of me could create a major scene. So I just wiggled back and forth, to which it wasn’t working. I didn’t get verbally aggressive at this time either. And then they started trying to dig in my pockets. That’s when I through my shoulder on a circle and got them off of me and yelled, “HEY!” Then I politely (wow, why I don’t know, as if I didn’t want to offend them), “If you put your hands on me again I’m going to have to physically throw you off me.” It was actually f’n hilarious, how nice I was being. They got the picture and hurried away.

I got the store, got my food, and on the way back, I was approached by a man who was begging for money. Earlier that day I saw another many get approached by a beggar and the man just said, “NO!” very firmly and he left him alone. Then a few others just ignored the man altogether. So as the man was talking to me, I just kept looking forward ignoring the fact that he was walking right beside me. Then a kid, not 8 years old, comes up talking Romanian and holding out his hand. I read about the group of homeless kids that do live in the city. Being so late, there was no way I was stopping to give money. Pretty much I give a dollar out anytime someone asks for it. It’s just the way I operate. However, in this instance, it wasn’t happening. Then the man says, “Oh, can I get a drink of your coke?” And I wanted to say, “It’s not a coke douchebag; it’s a Dr. Pepper.” LOL. Then, he reached across my my body to my left hand to grab for me coke. Him being a man, I my threat tolerance immensely goes up. Immediately after he reaches across my body, I turn around and yell, “LEAVE ME ALONE! GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!” When I yell, it’s not a good site. It didn’t take them too long to leave. And then I got home safely, thankfully.

That’s what you get for walking around at 2am. But, when you’re starving, sometimes it’s worth the risk of getting raped, telling a little homeless kid he can’t have any money, and threatening to kill a man because he called my Dr. Pepper a coke. LOL. Above all, it was an experience, and I now know how to properly handle myself if i ever go to a city such as New York, etc. if anything like that happens. Not engage, walk confidently, and sometimes we have to go through experiences to understand things.

This afternoon I walked to the same grocery store after a great massage to pick up a snack and grab another can of Dr. Pepper. As I was exiting the store, a man mutters something in Romanian, me knowing he wanted money. I worked my new tactics, and they worked flawlessly. However, they worked so good the man didn’t even turn around to chase me. Me still not feeling my “A-Game” was up with these new ‘dodgin the homeless tactics,’ I took that this man had a level of respect for me, but respecting my desire to not give him any cash. So I turned around a few steps down and he had already turned around. I took a few steps back, pulled out an envelope of money and handed him a 50 LEI bill. The many saw the bill and looked up at me and said, “Thank you,” and then he looked back down at the bill again, did a double-take and looked back up at me as if I saved his life! After the cop being paid only 20 LEI for his pay-off, I knew this man getting 50 LEI would be a big deal. And his thankful eyes was worth every cent. Or every LEI I should say. I was so moved by the experience. I turned to walk away, but the man stuck out his hand and said, “Thank you, thank you!” and I shook his hand. He grabbed it with both this hands and shook with so much compassion. I stooped walking and stood there looking at this man in the eyes, feeling loved. He asked where I was from. i told him the states. He asked what state. I said California. Then I said Los Angeles, California. And then he looked at me and said, “Ohhhh! AMERICA!! Thank you so much! You are such a nice man. Then he told me that he knew someone who lived in Detroit. He started thinking of other words to say, but I kindly said, “Hope you have great day.” Our whole conversation the man was still grasping my hand. I loved every second of it. He then said, “Okay. Yes. You have a nice day, too.” Then I felt sad I had disengaged him and had to move on. As I headed down the street, he yelled something in Romanian. Although I don’t understand a lick of Romanian, I didn’t have to. I knew what the man said, and I knew he yelled, “This man here is a great man!” Sometimes we don’t have to know a language to understand the human heart. As I was crossing the street down aways the man stands in the middle of the street waving good bye and saying, “THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!” and I pick up my hand and wave to him good bye for a few seconds, letting him know he made an even greater impact on me in that moment.

I don’t know why, but I truly live for these moments. I truly live for the moment seeing the 4-foot elderly Romanian woman shop for groceries. I live for the moments of touching Romaian grass for the first time, and being in such deep centered reflection of feeling universally connected that as I walked back to the sidewalk feeling one with everything around me, I was looking about in the sky and I could hear birds, the wind, noises that my ears weren’t picking up before, and it was all around me, the music of life. And as I came back down with my eyes, there were pigeons 360 degrees around me… approaching me literally at the same time, from every which direction. It was like the Lion King, minus the lion, but pigeons. Speaking of the heart, I think even animals can sense a source that radiates all reverence for life, and I was doing it at that moment. The power inside each of us is compelling to witness, especially when you witness your own.

My experiences were so simple, yet so profound. I spent way too much time shooting and on set to get a chance to really see Bucharest, or get the chance to visit Transylvania. But I am far from leaving this country disappointed. I saw the human heart, in both homeless men. Bucharest has made me see more and more of how intricately connected we all really are. Leaving tomorrow, I am happy to get back to “AMERICA!” LOL. I am happy to get back to the states. There is so much to do before the release of Almighty Thor on SyFy May 7th. Yet, I wanted to take the opportunity write something since I haven’t in so long and give my traveling reflections.

If you feel compelled, leave a comment or note and I will write you back.

All the very best,
Cody

  40. Now that the American Idol season is over, I guess I don’t have much to talk about. So I guess I will just share something with you. In the world of Internet marketing I have seen just everything over the last 12 years. I have tried every method that you could imagine in order to make money online. I mean I have tried EVERYTHING! There have been some good years and there have been some years that were… not so good. Now I am going to go ahead and let you in on my latest and greatest discovery. You can make A LOT of money with this system. It was put together by someone that I highly respect. He really knows what he is doing when it comes to making money online and he is the real deal. He is obviously very rich and after you take a look at this program you will be able to see why. Not long ago, I got an invite to see this system in action. The system is set up so that you would only need to work one hour a day but if you’re like me, you would probably work it to death in order to maximize your profits. The payments on this thing are $200 to $300 a shot. A big part of this system is that they don’t want you to talk specifically about the methods involved. That would spoil all the fun. This is a real no-brainer. Take a look at the video presentation and let me know what you think. Also, I should mention that once you sign up, you will receive some nice bonuses free. -> http://cash411.info/go/239

  86. Hey! I loved your post; it’s better than 90% of the other blog posts I read (and I mean it)! I didn’t see a contact form so I hope you don’t mind me posting here. My hubby insisted that I offer you some advice. Both of us have been into blogging since 2007, so it’s safe to say we’re a bit talented and skillful. Both of us live extremely comfortably just by posting on our blogs. I wanted to let you know there’s a couple changes you can make to your blog that would increase revenue by AT LEAST triple whatever you’re making right now! There’s this site called http://massprofitingformula.com – it tripled (almost even quadrupled!) the revenue for all my blogs. The tool will actually send targeted traffic to YOUR blog. I had Google AdSense on my blog and I went from making $2-5 a day to $100-200 a day within one week! Cool, huh? Yesterday I even made a whopping $331 when I setup two more blogs and used the software on them! I just learned about it a few weeks ago and I never plan on running a blog without it again. :) Take care and good luck!

It will be interesting to see how severely this school of phishermen will be punished. In 2005, a UK pair of electronic anglers were sentencedone for six years, the other for fourfor laundering $10.3 million in todays U.S. dollars for their felonious endeavors. In 2008, a West Haven, Conn. man was hit with a seven year prison sentence for bilking $400,000 from AOL uses with a phishing scam. And earlier this year, a Minneapolis judge slapped a phisher with an 8.5 year expense free vacation in the Big House for a phishing con that garnered the perp $700,000 over a seven year period. Although sentencing appears to be all over the board, I cant see the members of this crew gettingat least in the United Statesless than eight years a piece for their crooked behaviores–less than eight years a piece for their crooked behavior.
